Billing & subscription
Everything you need to know about plans, payment, invoices, and cancellation.
Plans and pricing
FamilyChaos offers two paid plans, both with all features included and no member limits:
- Monthly — $3.99 CAD per month, billed each month on the same day you subscribed.
- Annual — $24.99 CAD per year (equivalent to $2.08/month), billed once a year on your renewal date.
Every new family starts with a free 30-day trial. No credit card is required during the trial. At the end of the trial you'll be prompted to choose a plan and enter payment details to continue using FamilyChaos.
How payment works
FamilyChaos uses Stripe to process all payments. Your card details are entered and stored securely by Stripe — FamilyChaos never sees or stores your full card number.
When your billing date arrives, Stripe charges your saved payment method automatically. If a charge fails (for example, a card has expired), Stripe will retry over the following few days and send you an email notification. You can update your payment method at any time from Settings → The Bills to prevent a service interruption.
Updating your payment method
Open Settings → The Bills and tap Update payment method. You'll be redirected to a secure Stripe page where you can add or replace a credit or debit card. The new card takes effect immediately and will be used for all future charges.
Viewing invoices
A receipt is emailed to the account owner after every successful charge. You can also view and download all past invoices from Settings → The Bills → Invoice history. Invoices are provided as PDFs and include your family name, billing period, and a Stripe invoice number.
Switching between monthly and annual
You can switch plans at any time from Settings → The Bills → Change plan.
Monthly → Annual: The switch takes effect immediately. Your remaining monthly days are credited as a pro-rata deduction against the annual price, and you are charged the difference right away.
Annual → Monthly: The switch takes effect at the end of your current annual period. You keep annual access until your renewal date, then move to monthly billing.
Cancelling your subscription
Open Settings → The Bills and tap Cancel subscription. You'll be asked to confirm before anything is changed.
Monthly subscriptions are cancelled at the end of the current billing period. Your family keeps full access until that date and you will not be charged again.
Annual subscriptions are eligible for a pro-rata refund of any unused complete months remaining, provided the cancellation request is made within 30 days of the most recent annual charge. After 30 days, access continues until the annual period ends but no refund is issued.
After a subscription ends, the family account enters a read-only grace period of 7 days. Existing data can be viewed but no new content can be created. After the grace period the account is deactivated. Family data is retained for 90 days after deactivation — if you resubscribe within that window, everything is restored automatically.
Reactivating after cancellation
If your subscription has lapsed, the account owner can reactivate at any time by opening Settings → The Bills and choosing a plan. As long as the account was deactivated within the last 90 days, all family data will be restored the moment the subscription is confirmed.
Who manages billing
Only the account owner — the adult who originally created the family — can access billing settings and make payment changes. Other adult members can view the current plan and billing date but cannot modify the subscription or payment method.
