Children's Privacy Notice

Last updated: 2026-08-20 · Version 1.2

We built FamilyChaos for families. This notice explains how we handle information about children — anyone under 13 in the US and Canada, or under 16 in the EU.

What we collect

When a parent adds a child to FamilyChaos, we store the child's name, date of birth, and email address (if provided). We also store things the child does in the app, such as calendar events, list items, chore records, notes, and recipes. Vault entries created by a child are end-to-end encrypted — we cannot read the contents.

How we use it

We use this information only to run the app for your family. We do not sell it. We do not share it with advertisers. Our marketing website uses Google Analytics to count page visits, but this is entirely separate from the app — it does not collect any data about your child's activity inside FamilyChaos.

Who can see it

Family admins (parents) can see everything. Other family members see names and shared content only.

Your rights as a parent

You can:

  • See all data we hold about your child — Settings → Members → Export
  • Correct mistakes — Settings → Members → Edit
  • Delete everything — Settings → Members → Remove
  • Withdraw consent — Settings → Members → Withdraw Consent

These actions happen immediately.

How long we keep data

We keep data while your family account is active. When you delete a child's account, their personal information is removed within 24 hours. Consent records are kept longer as required by law, but with the child's name removed.
