Calendar

Tap the + button or click any date on the calendar grid to open the event form. Fill in the title and set the start and end date and time. Toggle All day for events without a specific time.

Optional fields include a location, a description, a colour label (managed in Settings → Customise), and a Private toggle. Private events are visible only to you.

A filter bar at the top of the calendar lets you narrow what you see without leaving the page. All filters are additive — combine as many as you like and tap Clear to reset.

• By member — tap a family member's name chip to show only events they created. The chip reads Me for your own events. Member chips appear when there are two or more active members in the family.
• By label — tap a colour label chip to show only events tagged with that label. You can select multiple labels at once.
• By event type — use the All / All-day / Timed segmented control to show only all-day events or only timed events.
• Bills — the Bills chip is on by default. Deselect it to hide bill due dates from the calendar view.

The mini calendar in the sidebar has a Today button. Tap it to jump back to the current month and highlight today's date, no matter how far you've scrolled.

Enable Repeat to schedule an event on a regular pattern: daily, weekly on specific days, monthly, or annually.

When editing or deleting a recurring event, FamilyChaos asks whether the change applies to this occurrence only or all future occurrences. Editing all future occurrences updates the master series going forward.

Click or tap an event on the calendar grid to open its detail sheet. Tap the edit icon (pencil) to update any field — title, time, recurrence, or any other option. Save to apply your changes.

To delete an event, open it and tap Delete. For recurring events, FamilyChaos asks whether to delete this occurrence only or all future occurrences.

Set the end date to a different day than the start date to create a multi-day event. The event appears as a spanning block across every day it covers on the calendar grid.

Recurring bill due dates automatically appear on the calendar so you can see what's coming up without switching to the Bills section. Clicking a bill occurrence on the calendar opens its detail sheet.

FamilyChaos exposes a CalDAV endpoint that works with Apple Calendar, Thunderbird, and most other calendar apps. To connect, open your Profile (tap your avatar in the top bar) and scroll to the CalDAV sync section to find your personal CalDAV URL and credentials.

Each family member gets their own CalDAV principal. Events are read-only from the CalDAV client — create and edit events in the FamilyChaos app.

Any adult member can pull events from external calendars into the shared FamilyChaos calendar. Open Settings → External Calendars and tap Add Calendar to choose an import method:

• Google Calendar — connect via Google OAuth. After authorising, choose which of your Google calendars to sync. Events are kept up to date automatically.
• Microsoft / Outlook Calendar — connect via Microsoft OAuth in the same way as Google.
• Apple / iCloud Calendar — connect using your Apple ID and an App-Specific Password generated at appleid.apple.com. After connecting, choose which iCloud calendars to sync.
• Upload .ics file — import a one-time snapshot from any calendar app that can export in iCalendar format.
• Subscribe to a calendar URL — subscribe to a public WebCal or ICS URL; FamilyChaos fetches and syncs the feed on a schedule.

External events appear on the family calendar alongside events created in FamilyChaos. They are read-only — edit them in the source calendar app.

All active connections are listed on Settings → External Calendars. From there you can:

• Sync now — tap the sync icon next to a connection to fetch the latest events immediately rather than waiting for the background schedule. Re-syncing updates any events that have changed in the source calendar.
• Change which calendars are included — for Google, Microsoft, and iCloud connections, tap the calendar list icon to add or remove individual calendars without reconnecting.
• Remove — disconnects the calendar and deletes all events imported from it. For Google and Microsoft, the OAuth token is also revoked.
