Lists
Create shared lists for groceries, errands, packing, to-dos, or anything else. Check items off in real time across all your devices.
Creating a list
Tap New list and give it a name. Lists can be pinned — up to four pinned lists appear as cards at the top of the Lists page. Each card shows the list's emoji and name; tap it to open the list directly.
Customising a list
Open a list and tap the edit pencil in the header to reveal the colour and emoji picker. Choose a hex card colour and an emoji to personalise the list — these appear on the pinned card and make your lists easy to tell apart at a glance.
Adding items
Open a list and type an item name. FamilyChaos suggests items from your history as you type — tap a suggestion to add it instantly. Optionally assign an item to a category(managed in Settings → Customise) to keep lists organised.
Items can be marked private so only you can see them in the list.
Checking off items
Tap the checkbox next to any item to mark it complete. Completed items collapse into a Completed section at the bottom of the list so you can focus on what's left. Tap a completed item again to restore it.
Sorting and reordering
Within a list, drag items to reorder them manually, or use the sort controls to arrange items by name or date added in ascending or descending order.
The list index can be reordered by dragging lists up and down.
Item history
FamilyChaos remembers items your family has added before and surfaces them as autocomplete suggestions. Item history is shared across all family members and can be reviewed or cleared in Settings → My Family.
Lists from the Meal Planner
The Meal Planner can generate a shopping list automatically from your weekly meal plan. Tap Add to List in the Meal Planner and FamilyChaos will aggregate all recipe ingredients for the week into a new list named after the date range (for example, Meal plan: Aug 11–17). The list appears alongside your other lists and can be edited, pinned, or checked off just like any other list.
