Notifications
Push notifications keep every family member informed when something changes — no need to check the app manually.
Enabling push notifications
When you first sign in on a new device, FamilyChaos will ask permission to send push notifications. Grant the permission and your device is activated automatically.
If you dismissed the prompt, open your Profile (tap your avatar in the top bar) and tap Activate this device in the Notifications section to retry. You may also need to allow notifications for FamilyChaos in your browser or OS settings.
Per-feature toggles
Each family member can choose which types of notifications they receive. Open your Profile (tap your avatar in the top bar), scroll to the Notifications section, and toggle:
- Calendar events — new events and changes to existing events
- Bills & payments — upcoming due dates and payment confirmations
- Lists — new items added to a shared list
- List activity — items checked off during a shopping trip
- Warranty expiry — an alert when an asset warranty is approaching its expiry date
Multiple devices
Notifications are sent to every device you have activated. To deactivate a device — for example an old phone — sign out on that device. The device is automatically removed from your notification targets on sign-out.
Bill reminders
Recurring bills support an optional Reminder setting. When enabled, a push notification is sent the specified number of days before the bill's due date. Reminders are configured per bill in the bill detail view.
